Mustang trek takes you into the hidden kingdom of Mustang in the Trans Himalayan region of western part of Nepal bordering with Tibet. Mustang is also known as the Dry desert of Nepal as it is situated in the monsoon shadow region beyond the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range.  In this region you see the unspoiled Tibetan villages. During the Mustang trek which is also known as the Upper Mustang, you get chance to explore the culture, lifestyle, religion of the Himalayan people which is similar to that of the Tibetan people. the awesome mountain vistas, rare medieval Buddhist arts, unique Himalayan desert, exotic culture of the inhabitants, artistic barren landscapes enchants every trekker who visit this region.  The people of this trekking region follow the Tibetan Buddhism. In Mustang trek you enjoy the excellent panoramic view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri and many more. Another attraction of Mustang trek is the view of the deepest gorge of the world, Kali Gandaki gorge between the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri.
The challenging mustang trek also known as upper mustang trek was opened for trekking purpose in 1992 AD. To trek in this region, trekkers required the special permit from the government of Nepal and organized with groups. Mustang trek begins with the scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, the trading center of the lower mustang. Then you head to Kagbeni following the bank of the Kali Gandaki River. Kagbeni is famous for the Saligram. Saligram is the stone in which picture of lord Vishnu is inscribed. There you also meet the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims who are heading to Muktinath, the holy place of Hindu and Buddhist. Then you head to Lo Monthong, the walled Himalayan city. You visit the Lo Manthang village as well as centuries old Buddhist monasteries like Choser Monastery, Namgyal Monastery and Tiger Monastery. The best seasons to go for Mustang trek are autumn and the spring.

Upper Mustang Trekking itinerary

Day 01:

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu, you are welcomed by hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to hotel. Our airport representative will explain briefly the program and preparation for trek.

Day 02:

Kathmandu to Pokhara 915m. By tourist bus or by flight.

Day 03:

Pokhra to Jomsom 2720m, by flight and trek to Kagbeni 2810m.

Day 04:

Kagbeni trek to Chele 3050m.

Day 05:

trek to Geling 3500m.

Day 06:

Geling trek to Tsarang/Chharang 3620m.

Day 07:

Tsarang/Chharang trek to Lo Manthang 3840m.

Day 08:

Acclimatization or Rest day in Lo-Manthang. During this, you can make sightseeing or excursion tour around Mustang King Palace and monasteries.

Day 09:

Lo Manthang trek to Ghami 3545m. via Gekar.

Day 10:

Ghami trek to Samar 3356m.

Day 11:

Samar trek to Kagbeni.

Day 12:

Kagbeni trek to Jomsom.

Day 13:

After breakfast Jomsom to Pokhara.( by flight)

Day 14:

by bus/private vehicle or by flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 15

: Morning Mountain flight, after breakfast Full day sightseeing in heritage side in Kathmandu such as Pasupati nath Swayambunath  ancient durbar  square…..
